The oldest variant is finely grated horseradish, which is a highly refined product, that primarily is used in sauces, baguettes and on bread. It is sold retail in bags of 40 grams.

| Shredded horseradish |

The most popular variant is shredded horseradish, a cut horseradish which is easily recognized on its resemblence with a matchstick. It is especially used for open sandwiches, Wiener schnitzel and beef, and has become popular because a blender quickly can turn it into finely grated horseradish, and because the modern housewife likes to serve a dish with a "bite" to it.
It is sold retail in cups with 50 grams.

| Raw horseradish |

Raw horseradish, horseradish naturel, is supplied in bags of 1 kg as well as in boxes with 6 trays of 80 grams each.
Horseradish is a good ingredient for preservation of pickles and beetroot - giving both flavour and preservation.
